The IV International Meeting “Te Protejo México”

The IV International Meeting “Te Protejo México” was a key forum that brought together experts, international organisations, authorities, and digital platforms to discuss strategies for preventing and combating child sexual abuse material in digital environments.

During the panels, representatives from the Mexican Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, TikTok Latam, INHOPE, Interpol, Lorena Ochoa, Ana de Saracho, and cybersecurity experts from the gaming community shared their insights. Chris Hughes, Director of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), highlighted the need to create a network to counteract online child abuse, stressing the importance of collaboration in these efforts. John Shehan, Vice President of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), emphasised that education is crucial in helping people, especially teenagers, understand the risks and recognise that solutions exist for seeking help in cases of sextortion or other forms of digital violence.

The event was also supported by institutions such as Tec de Monterrey, Edicto, Educando en Red, Fundación Freedom, Reinserta, and Fundación PAS. The collective efforts of these organisations aim to build a safer digital world - an objective that can only be achieved through international collaboration, as the digital sphere transcends borders and eliminates territorial limits.
