Children eating ice cream, playing on sports equipment, or dressing up like adults — everyday moments like these are increasingly being misused and sexualised online, sometimes in deeply disturbing ways.


Advancements in technology that allow for the easy manipulation of photos and videos are making the problem even worse. In response, the child rights organisation Save the Children, in collaboration with jugendschutz.net, has published a guide urging schools, kindergartens, sports clubs, and other institutions to carefully consider the publication of any images featuring children.

The guide not only provides essential background information but also uses illustrations to highlight the difference between higher-risk and lower-risk images. It includes practical recommendations on image selection and safe sharing practices.
