FSM Celebrate Safer Internet Day 2021

FSM published a new and inclusive awareness video about how to report illegal online content to the FSM hotline. In order to motivate as many people as possible to report to hotlines, it is very important to communicate how the FSM hotline together with its national partners and the international INHOPE network is fighting against child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and other harmful online content to as many people as possible. Therefore the new awareness video is accessible to a broader audience offering subtitles and sign language.

The video is available on the FSM website and social media channels, e.g. on Facebook and YouTube.

Within the media literacy project “weitklick” offering a blended learning programme to teachers about misinformation online the FSM hosted an online panel discussion livestream: A school teacher and headmaster, a journalist, a YouTube professional, a media education expert and a teenager exchanged their perspectives on “Who can I trust? - Media and news literacy in a digital world”.

Furthermore FSM managing director Martin Drechsler presented our engagement in strengthening media literacy in a high-level digital conference on "Digital platforms and society - How can we promote social participation in digital progress and the culture of debate online?" hosted by the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection and Germany’s digital association Bitkom.
