Safer Internet Day 2026 Celebrations in Lithuania

The Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT), which operates the internet hotline "Švarus internetas" in Lithuania, organised the main SID 2026 remote event "Digital Wave" (Skaitmeninė banga), held at Vilnius' A. Mickevičius Library and broadcast on YouTube, Facebook and major media portals across Lithuania. Opening remarks were delivered by the Chairwoman of the RRT Council, Jūratė Šovienė.

Sessions were delivered by experienced speakers for a range of age groups and covered the following topics:

  • For 9th–12th grade students: "Looking to the Future: Sustainability, Safety and Other Important Things", exploring how to find balance between sustainability and digital technologies, how to tackle trolls and bots online, and how much artificial intelligence has developed over the past year.
  • For 5th–8th grade students: "Learning to Be Friends with Technology", focusing on drones and robotics.
  • For 1st–4th grade students: "How to Behave in the Internet Jungle?"
    - For adults: "Building Our Digital Security Muscles", covering how to build a cyber-resilient business and what the Artificial Intelligence Act means in practice.
  • For seniors: "Happily Ever After – Possible", addressing how to recognise online scammers, the power of networking, and staying safe online later in life.

A record 132,000 users watched the event remotely.
