Why did you move to the Netherlands?
I moved to the Netherlands to pursue my master's degree at Erasmus University Rotterdam. However, after a few months of being in the country, I realized that I wanted to stay and build my life here after completing my studies. One of the things that drew me to the Netherlands was the opportunity to meet people from diverse cultural backgrounds. It's been a great experience sharing ideas with people from all over the world.
Why do you work at INHOPE?
I wanted to work for an organization that contributes to society positively and makes a real impact. INHOPE presented an excellent opportunity for me to achieve this goal. As a global network dedicated to combatting online child sexual abuse, INHOPE's mission is one that resonates with me deeply. I am proud to be a part of an organization that is making a tangible difference in the world.
What is a passion of yours?
Skiing has been a passion of mine since childhood. I started skiing at the age of three and have been hooked ever since. Participating in skiing competitions taught me the importance of being competitive and ambitious while still enjoying the sport. More than that, skiing has always been a way to bring my family together, and the memories we've created through this shared passion are priceless.
How has your background shaped who you are?
Growing up in Romania, a post-communist country, taught me the value of staying informed and aware of the world around me. Despite being born more than ten years after the fall of communism, the effects of the regime are still visible in Romanian society. My experiences have made me appreciate the importance of education and the role it plays in shaping the future of a nation. My background has also given me a unique perspective and appreciation for the opportunities I have now.
What do you do outside of office hours?
I enjoy staying active and challenging my creativity. Bouldering is a new hobby I've recently taken up, and I find it both physically and mentally rewarding. Each climb presents a new puzzle to solve, and the sense of accomplishment when I reach the top is unmatched. In my spare time, I also enjoy crocheting. It's a great way for me to experiment with different patterns and create unique pieces that reflect my personality and style.
