AFPI - Point de Contact 2016 Annual Report released

Today 30 March 2017 AFPI - the French Internet Service Providers Association which operates the Hotline in France released its 2017 statistics. The key headline figures include:

+37% reports received in 2016  amounting to 23,478 URLs
+41% URLs assessed as containing illegal material amounting to 12,931 URLs
7,341 URLs containing illegal child sexual abuse images (+287% since 2014)
76% of CSAM processed by the hotline was hosted in France
82,2% of CSAM was found on image hosting services
81% of identified victims were girls
2 victims out of 5 were assessed as prepubescent
7,000 URLs were forwarded to LEA; 6,228 to French-based hosting providers; 990 to other INHOPE hotlines
6,675 URLs were removed from public access (including 5,608 within under a week)

99,2% of reported CSAM hosted in France was taken down
